According to an article in IOL, the South African Blood Bank ("SANBS": "South African National Blood Service"), desperately needs blood.
There is only one day's supply of blood currently in stocks!

A message from the Founder! - to appear above normal contents!
"I have a rare blood disease, Sideroblastic Anaemia.
In late 2007 my condition got worse, and I had to start regular blood transfusions in early 2008 which I will need every 3 weeks for the rest of my life.
I was born in 1991 and diagnosed in 1993, at the age of 2.
For the first 16 years of my life I managed to cope with life. I couldn't do a lot of physical activity or anything like that because of the disease which caused me to not get enough oxygen but I lived a mostly normal life.
In 2007 my condition started to deterioate, I couldn't walk up the stairs to my classes, I was extremely tired all the time (so much so that some days I couldn't even go to school) and several times I felt like I was going to pass out.
So eventually in 2008 I went on blood transfusions. I require 3 units of blood every 3 weeks. It makes a massive difference in my life and enables me to live normally.
I am just one of many persons who need blood.
So I appeal to you all to go out there today and start donating blood!
Every bit is needed :) Kari Reynolds

Back To School: Donation Drive
"Hey all,
now a lot of us go back to school this week, that's why it's called back to school week..
I ask you to take a short amount of time out of your busy lives, to stop and think about all the people you could help with just one donation. (One donation can go toward saving four different lives)
So as we go back to school this week, let's make a back to school commitment to allow someone else to go back to school as well by giving them the gift of life.
So take some time out of your week to go and donate blood, saving a life.
Let's try and get 50 commitments (50 yes replies to this event) and save countless lives this week!!!
WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!"

Welcome to this site

This is after a successful facebook movement was started to help increase efforts, and I have volunteered to set up this blog for that movement. They seem to be affecting the world in a way, and I hope they use this to do so also. Please subscribe, even to simply alerts, of when a post or such is made here!
I am not the major person on this site, simply helped to set it up for a cause; of a friend, who is passionate on this important issue. They hope to keep you up to date on donation issues, and to raise awareness via facebook. Their facebook group certainly attempts to do so!
I wish them good luck, and Godspeed(good tides etc) in their attempts.
Please join the facebook group, and help create awareness on this issue!
